Transparent Museum
Transparent Museum
Graphic design for a 2-year exhibition that offers visitors insights on the key tasks and processes that happen backstage at the museum. Inspired by mind maps and 'clouds' of information, we broke up the content into small text units, organically placed them in relation to each other and the art works, encouraging visitors to investigate throughout the galleries. Smaller signs with footnotes and facsimiles allowed them to dive deeper into the subject matter if they wanted. Two apps we designed for the exhibition allowed visitors to re-enact an artist's choice of frame for an artwork, then paint the frame (as the artist did with one of the works on display), email the result to others as a digital postcard and view it as part of a growing in-app gallery.
